Send a text with Siri while driving
Quick answer
"Text Sam I'm on my way" with CarPlay connected and Siri composes and reads back the message before sending, so you never touch the screen. Say "yes" to send or "change it" to redo. Incoming texts can be read aloud automatically too, with a spoken reply.

If Siri doesn't get it
If Siri picks the wrong app or contact, name them clearly. To hear incoming texts automatically, turn on Announce Messages for CarPlay in Settings > Notifications.
