Scan a document with Siri

Quick answer

Siri can't run a document scan on its own, but "open Notes" gets you there fast: in Notes, tap the camera and choose Scan Documents to capture a page. For a true one-step scan, build a Shortcut that scans and saves, then run it by saying its name.

Say this

Open Notes

How it works

  1. 01Say "open Notes" to Siri
  2. 02Tap the camera icon, then Scan Documents
  3. 03Or run a scanning Shortcut by name for one-step capture

If Siri doesn't get it

Siri opens the app but doesn't scan directly. A custom Shortcut with a scan action, triggered by voice, is the closest to hands-free scanning.
