How to ask Siri to make a Genmoji

Quick answer

On Apple Intelligence–capable devices, open the emoji keyboard, tap Genmoji, and describe what you want ("a cat in a party hat"). Genmoji is created from your description and can be used inline like an emoji. This is a newer feature and availability varies by device and region.

Say this

a smiling cat wearing a party hat

How it works

  1. 01Open Messages (or any text field) and bring up the emoji keyboard.
  2. 02Tap the Genmoji button and type a description.
  3. 03Pick from the generated options and add it to your message.
  4. 04You can base a Genmoji on a person from your photo library.

If Siri doesn't get it

If you don't see Genmoji, your device or region may not have Apple Intelligence enabled — check Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri. Based on Apple's announced behavior; not yet device-confirmed.
