How to create a Shortcut Siri can run

Quick answer

Build the automation in the Shortcuts app, give it a clear name, then say "Hey Siri, [shortcut name]" to run it. The shortcut's name is its trigger phrase.

Say this

Hey Siri, run my Morning shortcut

How it works

  1. 01Open Shortcuts and tap + to create a new shortcut.
  2. 02Add actions (set a scene, send a text, start a playlist).
  3. 03Give it a short, distinct name — that name becomes the Siri phrase.
  4. 04Say "Hey Siri, [name]" to run it anytime.

If Siri doesn't get it

If Siri doesn't recognize the shortcut, rename it to something short and unmistakable that doesn't collide with a built-in command, and confirm Siri access is on in Shortcuts settings.
